Follow what lights you up, and you'll light up the world.

Light Is the New Black is a guidebook for a new breed of women who are here to be bright lights in the world - modern-day lightworkers who agreed to be here at this time in history. In order to thrive in this new age, everything we do must be an authentic expression of who we truly are. Light Is the New Black will guide you back home to the callings of your soul, so you can light up the world with your presence.

Rebecca Campbell had her first awakening when she was a teenager, but without anyone to guide her, she ignored her soul's callings and dimmed her light in order to fit in. Then, just before her 30th birthday, the life she had so consciously created began to crumble around her. It was as if the Universe turned off all the lights, so she had no choice but to rediscover her own. In this book, Rebecca shares her own journey alongside practical tools to help you reconnect with the core of your being and channelled messages from the Universe. Once you rediscover what you already know at soul level, you can offer the world something that only you can give.

I don't believe I have ever left a bad review of a book in my life. I just cannot get over this one. I am fairly well-read all around, with many hours spent in metaphysical literature ( I am a huge fan of Tolle, Abraham-Hicks, Wayne Dyer, etc.). I just feel like there is no substance to this book whatsoever. There is a ton of empty space and big print, typographical errors, and other things that I just can't stomach as a reader. This proverbial double-whammy of lack of substance and a lack of a decent editor just has me feeling awful, like if Rebecca Campbell really did have a heartfelt message to send to the world, this book completely missed the mark. It's borderline laughable.

Light Is the New Black A Guide to Answering Your Soul Callings and Working Your Light (Audible Audio Edition) Rebecca Campbell Hay House UK Books Reviews

I am not giving this book five stars because it shifted something within myself, it did no such thing. It did put me back onto the path I was called on years ago. I loved her approach, her writing style, and the energy within the text. If you are already on the path of working your purpose this book may not bring anything new or enlightening, but that isn't to say it won't completely turn someone else's world around. I think this book will inspire a lot of women (and possibly men) to really look deep within and start a journey of working your purpose. For myself, this book was full of reminders and was comforting. You are not alone in your suffering, allow the light to come forward, and I needed to hear that.

I really enjoyed the fun approaches to finding "you" (possibly on a more superficial level) like finding your tag line, theme song, etc.

What I didn't really get were parts like "Twitter Bios and Fitting In"… I understand where she is coming from, that we cannot worry about trying to define ourselves within 140 characters, you can instantly "feel" just by visiting a social media page. But if there is going to be an entire page dedicated to this topic in a book I would think it should hold more valuable information on the topic, or leave it at simply one sentence. There were a few pages that had me saying "wait, what?". Although, I have to remind myself that in real life I do the same thing, and often jump from topic to topic, but if that sort of thing bothers you this probably isn't the book for you.

The way the book is written is pretty random and can sort of be all over the place, but maybe that is the best part?

I loved Rebecca's approach to making everyone feel included, reminding the reader that there is no separation and we are all light workers, we are all called for a higher purpose, and we can all find our bliss.
This is the second book by Rebecca Campbell that I’ve read over the past few weeks (I actually started with “Rise Sister Rise”), and I loved it. I was once again drawn to look inwards even more with the questions that were spaced throughout the book (and I have most bookmarked to go back to, as I couldn’t seem to find the words just yet to answer the questions).

It is an amazing book to read, and have the realization that there are parts of us that we close off because we have the need to “fit in” with everyone else. That there are parts that we ignore because we’re focused on the parts that we’ve become good at, so that we can trudge through a 9-5 job (or longer depending on the project).

I’ve realized that since I’ve graduated with my PhD, I have let certain areas become closed off and stagnant due to the need to try to climb the scientific ladder. One of the exercises in the book is to make a list of all the things that light you up, no matter what it is—everyone is different, and that is fine. Another exercise is to write out a list of your ten most unique and eclectic mix of gifts, and to keep it growing by adding to it as you uncover more and more of your uniqueness daily/weekly/yearly.

I highly recommend books by Rebecca Campbell to anyone who is working on personal development
I love everything I see about this woman on her videos, audios, etc., but I'm finding this particular book drags and if the same phrase is going to be used over and over, then maybe make it a motto. I like the content of what she writes too. I just have trouble staying with this book. I can't even articulate what bothers me about it, I just found my attention dwindling as I was reading it. Sorry, Rebecca, you're just really interesting otherwise, I'm just not connecting with this book, and maybe it's just me. ;-(
It's true, almost each page is its own little chapter. This book does not require an hour of deep concentration to read a chapter and understand what it is saying. Yay! This book is filled with good ideas, positive encouragement, and ideas for practices to try to increase your personal power/joy. I found it uplifting, easy to digest, and definitely worth reading. Maybe, if you are far along on your spiritual journey, you would find it naive or simplistic. However, if you were far along on your spiritual journey, you would not find the need to write such negative comments about the author's stated passion for writing, or her enthusiasm. Just saying.....
There is a quote in this book that is attributed to Emma Watson that is actually from the Talmud. Let that sink in for a minute. This author attributed a piece of ancient Jewish wisdom to a celebrity. That tells you what kind of soulless book this is. It's spirituality for the Goop crowd. Spirituality for the Selfie Age. The author clearly has little knowledge of the wisdom, knowledge, and teachings of any of the world's religious or spiritual traditions beyond some New Age stuff she could easily glom onto without having to think too hard. (And I'm not anti-New Age. I like reiki and crystals as much as the next person. I'm just anti-shallowness.)

This book is poorly written, without depth or substance. It's just the author spouting a bunch of cliches and feel-good mumbo jumbo.
I don't believe I have ever left a bad review of a book in my life. I just cannot get over this one. I am fairly well-read all around, with many hours spent in metaphysical literature ( I am a huge fan of Tolle, Abraham-Hicks, Wayne Dyer, etc.).
